Google's magic Internet balloons bringing Wi-Fi to India

Who: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Googles managing director from India, Rajan Anandan

When:Recently updated on March 6th at 10:39 pm

Where: India

What: Both Zuckerberg and Anandan are trying to to connect the rural parts of India, 68% of India which is near a population of 880 million people, with Wi-Fi. Anandan  told the Economic Times that Google has been in talks with telecommunication firms to collaborate on Project Loon, which sees high-altitude balloons beam speedy Wi-Fi down to remote areas in developing countries. Although it was banned last month due to violations from tenants of Net Neutrality over 30 other countries have free basics which allow Facebook and a few other sites and apps, but this also caused many people to say that it gave unfair market advantage but It's likely that Google won't encounter the same problem, since Project Loon's Wi-Fi provides equal access to all sites on the Internet. Google has yet to announce whether or not the connection provided by the project, announced in 2013, will be free, though it has stated that the goal of the project is to deliver Internet access to every corner of the world.
