Murder suspect recaptured after mistaken release from Los Angeles jail

Who:Steven Lawrence Wright

Where:Los Angeles

When:February 8, 2016

What:On January 30th, the Los Angeles sheriff department released Steven Wright after the judge mistakenly ordered the case to be dismissed and wrote the wrong case number on the first sheet of papers but the right one on the second sheet. Since the sheriffs didn't check the other pages and just went with the first page they ended up accidentally releasing Wright and not noticing until days after. They found him in a Nevada hotel and rearrested him there not going to charge him for anything because it wasn't his fault and hes already facing life in prison for his case anyways. He shot and killed a 47 year old man two times in the head just because the man was of the rivalry gang.

Why I Chose It: I chose this as my current event because i just thought it was crazy how the sheriffs aren't paying much attention to whats happening and i feel are lazy to flip the pages and read the whole report. What if this man was still in a the wrong set of mind and when released went look for another rivalry gang member to kill? Hes already facing life so he wouldn't care. So i think this was important especially for other sheriffs and police departments so that this situation doesn't occur again.

Jibri Bryan, Mercer Basketball Player, Shot Dead in Macon, Georgia Gas Station

Who:Mercer's Shooting Guard Jibri Bryan

Where:Macon, Georgia

When:Wednesday,3 February @4pm

What:The 23 year old shooting guard from Mercer University was found dead in a white Monte Carlo around 4pm by the Bibb County Sheriffs. Another victim was found injured but officers believe that the second victim was in another car, a white Nissan Sentra and drove up to Bryan right before the shooting happened that evening in  the Flash Foods gas station in Macon. Bryan was shot in the head instantly killing him, the other victim injured is unknown where he got shot. This all took place in a "bustling corner" of a very busy crossroad between campus and downtown. Although Bryan was sitting in the drivers seat of the vehicle it is unknown whether he was driving or not.

Why I chose it:I chose this as my current event because it's  crazy how a normal college basketball player was shot dead. I read a lot of the comments written by his teams and close friends or people that knew him, and they all said he was a very cheerful person that always made people smile and was very respectful. So i found it crazy how a good person was wanted dead.

Wearable robots for the paralyzed take a step forward

Who: SuitX(U.S. Bionics Lab)

When:N/A

Where:U.S.(Specific Location not available)

Why:To help disable people unable to walk for what ever reason walk again and help give human more upper body strength to lift heavy loads.

What:Wearable robots have the potential to do more than create 21st century super soldiers. Robotic arms are helping stroke victims regain control over their bodies and giving amputees, people with no sense in there legs or arms, the ability to feel again. Robotic suits let factory workers pick up heavy loads, and robotic legs are allowing the disabled to walk. Put another way, they're expanding the limits of being human.Wearable robots could also find a place on the factory floor. Japanese electronics giant 'Panasonic' revealed last year that it was developing an upper-body suit to help workers lift heavy loads and reduce repetitive strain injuries.
